A Pittsfield Township home was damaged Friday evening after a fire broke out in a bedroom.

The bedroom in the single-story home caught fire at about 8:54 p.m. Friday, July 27, in the 3600 block of S. Maple Road, Pittsfield Township Fire officials said.

Through a window, smoke and flames could be seen coming from the floor of the bedroom near the entrance of the home, officials said.

Fire crew were able contain and extinguish the fire in the room, with the rest of the home only suffering smoke damage, officials said.

There were no injuries reported, but the home is not habitable in its current state, officials said.

A cat that was unaccounted for when fire crews arrived was eventually located unharmed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have been started unintentionally, officials said. The fire caused an estimated $30,000 worth of damage, they said.

The Ann Arbor Fire Department and Huron Valley Ambulance assisted at the scene.
