Safestyle’s revolving door spins again as chairman leaves

Safestyle has been suffering amid a decline in consumer confidence. It also has lost market share to Safeglaze, a competitor set up by Mitu Misra, Safestyle’s founder and former sales chief

The chairman of Safestyle has resigned after only a month in the job and weeks after the windows and doors retailer had issued a profit warning.

Peter Richardson said that he was leaving immediately, just over four weeks after he replaced Steve Halbert, who also quit with immediate effect.

The group said that the “specific challenges facing the business and the time commitment required are beyond what [Mr Richardson] envisaged”. Chris Davies, the senior non-executive director, will lead the search for a new chairman.

Safestyle was founded in 1992 and is based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, where it makes and sells windows and doors. It caters entirely to owner-occupiers and last year generated revenues of £163.1 million.
