
Happy Thanksgiving, Central New York! If you’re not too busy Black Friday shopping or deeply enthralled in a turkey-induced coma, you’ll want to check out these dozen events going on in CNY this weekend.
Preemptively burn off a few calories before the big dinner at one of the many turkey trot races going on around Central New York Thanksgiving morning.
- Baldwinsville Kiwanis Turkey Day Race–C.W. Baker High School. 5K race starts at 9 a.m. 10K race starts at 10 a.m.
- Liverpool Turkey Trot–Onondaga Lake Park. Race starts at 9 a.m.
- FM Turkey Trot–Fayetteville-Manlius High School. 4K and 8K races start at 10:15 a.m.
- Jordan Turkey Trot–Jordan Masonic Lodge. Race starts at 9 a.m.
- Skaneateles Turkey Trot–Clift Park. Race starts at 9 a.m.
- Tully Free Library Turkey Trot–Tully Free Library. Race starts at 9 a.m.
- Cortland YMCA Turkey Trot–Cortland YMCA. Race starts at 9 a.m.
World’s Smallest Christmas ParadeDickens Christmas, one of Central New York’s greatest Christmas traditions, returns this weekend to Skaneateles.
The celebration begins with the “World’s Smallest Christmas Parade,” which starts on Fennell Street and ends 10 minutes later at the Hannum House next to the Sherwood Inn.

Skating will be open Friday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and then again following the tree lighting ceremony.

Thanksgiving Antiques ShowA post-Thanksgiving tradition for more than three decades, the Syracuse Thanksgiving Antiques Show will bring more than 200 vendors to the state fairgrounds for two days of shopping.
Where: New York State Fairgrounds Center of Progress Building, 581 State Fair Blvd., Geddes.
When: Saturday, Nov. 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
How much: Admission is $7 for adults per day, or $8 for a weekend pass. Children ages 16 and under are free.
Hercules Candy Open HouseEvery year, Hercules Candy in East Syracuse hosts a pair of open houses where guests can see candy canes made by hand. The final open house of the year is Saturday and in addition to the great candy canes, there will be free cider, cookies and candy samples for guests, as well as free prize drawings.
Where: Hercules Candy, 209 W. Heman St., East Syracuse.
When: Saturday, Nov. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you have no shot to win an award for finishing fast, you better break out the crazy costume for a chance to win the “best in dress” award.
All participants receive a 2017 ugly sweater beanie and ornament. All finishers can receive a free beer and brick oven pizza at The Barking Gull in Liverpool as part of the post-race party.

Baldwinsville Parade of LightsDozens of fire departments, ambulance crews and other organizations will deck their apparatuses out in lights and decorations for the fourth annual Parade of Lights. The village will hold its tree lighting ceremony following the parade.
Visitors will also have the chance to meet Santa, see a free movie at the Baldwinsville Public Library at 2 p.m. and enjoy other events throughout the day, all capped off with a fireworks show over the Seneca River.
Where: Baldwinsville. The parade runs from Stewart’s Shops on Oswego Street and ends downtown.
When: Saturday, Nov. 25. Parade starts around 5:30 p.m.
